Joanne Homsi

Mental Health Professional

Joanne is a highly skilled and qualified education/training professional.  She is experienced in delivering professional learning to school communities across primary and secondary education sectors. Joanne has worked in the mental health field as a clinician, school counsellor and community worker for twelve years. She brings with her a solid understanding of child and youth mental health concerns, including models of prevention, promotion and intervention. Joanne has extensive experience in delivering workshops and mental health modules to teachers, wellbeing staff, school   executives,   and   community   health  care  workers.  Joanne  has  specialised knowledge and experience in family therapy, mediation and counselling with children and young people at risk of developing or experiencing mental health difficulties.  

Joanne works as a private wellbeing consultant to foster whole school change, her areas of expertise include staff wellbeing, child/youth mental health difficulties, complex case management, school refusal, organisational psychology, change management, suicide prevention and working inclusively with students, families and carers.

Joanne brings with her a solid and in-depth understanding of the education system, accompanied by extensive experience from working in health and community settings. Her experience includes working across all sectors of education including Government Schools, Australian Independent Schools, and Sydney Catholic Schools. Joanne has worked directly in SSP schools (schools for specific purposes) including selective high schools for gifted and talented students and schools for students with a diagnosed mental disorder and or mental illness. Joanne has previously worked with Principals Australia Institute, and has an outstanding track record of delivering and implementing the national mental health initiative of KidsMatter and MindMatters across Australia, including in rural and remote areas. Joanne is an accredited National Youth Mental Health First Aid Australia Instructor and deliverers the two- day evidence-based workshop to school staff, school leaders and community workers.
